ZGCINE introduced the ZGCINE X battery series, a V-mount series. The series includes three batteries: the ZG-50 ($149), ZG-X99 ($219) and ZG-X160 ($279The ZGCINE series is the follow-up to the ZGCINE V series. The ZGCINE X Series is the follow-up series to the ZGCINE V seriesZGCINE will release in October 2022.

The ZGCINE X Series

The series includes three batteries of different capacities.

  • ZGCINE ZG X50 with 52Wh capacity (14.8V), 3500mAh
  • ZGCINE ZG X99 with 99Wh capacity (14.8V), 7,500mAh
  • ZGCINE ZG X160 with 156Wh capacity (14.8V), 10,000mAh

The ZGCINE V series batteries are improved in a few ways. The new X series features a 1.3-inch IPS screen that shows stats such as current, voltage, remaining battery life, and more.

The USB-C power port can now provide up to 100W of power (20V/5A). This is a clear step up from the V Series, which was limited to 65W (20V/3.25A), however this only applies the ZG X99 and ZG X160. The ZG-X50 is still limited to 45W. Additionally, the maximum output current on D-Tap is now 15A. That’s 2A more.

According to ZGCINE the new batteries feature real-time detection of all ports. This allows the batteries to deliver the correct current and voltage to any device connected.

A 100W port on the input side allows for quick charging of the batteries. The ZG-X99 needs 1.5 hours of charging, while the ZG-X160 needs 2.5 hours. The ZG-X50 doesn’t have the 100W port, but due to its smaller capacity, it takes only about 1.5 hours to charge. You will notice slower charging times if you charge the batteries using the BP pins. This applies to the ZG X99 or ZG X160. The BP pins can only handle 16.8V/3A or 50W.

It seemed that USB-C was the new power delivery method. Even LED Lighting Applications. And hey, the majority of new batteries include USB-C input and output ports (see this). SmallRig VB99 Pro – New!As an example, a recent one). But it seems V mount batteries are here to remain (even 14V) at least until USB-C with 200W is commercially deployed.
